These layered flower inspired earrings are a super fun design to make. The files include three layers that you stack on top of the other to create this layered effect. If you are using sturdy fabric you can just cut them out and attach them to an earring hook. Or you can get creative and use heat transfer vinyl to create a different effect.

After you have downloaded the free file. Open up Cricut design space. Than select the “upload” button from the bottom left corner.
Step 2
Select the “Upload Image” button in the next screen. You should find the downloaded files in your Download section on your computer.
Step 3
You will see the file on the upload screen. Select it and then select the green “Add to Canvas” button in the bottom right.
Step 4
You will now see the file in the canvas and the layers on the right. I recommend just working on one layer at a time so that you don’t waste material. When you are ready to start cutting out your design select the “Make it” button.
Step 5
In the prepare screen you will see your design where it will cut on your mat. Now you can move it around if you want it to cut on a different area. Than press the green “Continue” button in the lower right corner.
Step 6
In the Make screen you can select the material and pressure. I have selected “Faux leather (Paper thin)” and “More”. Now the Cricut is set up for cutting your material and you can press the button on your machine when ready.
Step 7
I went ahead and cut each layer out of a different color of faux suede.
Step 8
Because there are three layers to these earrings they can become very bulky. I recommend putting a backing on these, it will make the layers thinner. I had success with both foil and adhesive vinyl. If you are doing all the back in the same color you can cut them out at the same time. But only do this if you are 100% sure you have the correct settings. Otherwise I recommend cutting them out one at a time so that you don’t waste material. I also recommend cutting out the material the the size of the design, this will help keep your mat sticky and clean.
Below you can compare, on the left side is without backing and the right side has a backing. Adding something on the back, such as heat transfer vinyl, foil, or heat ‘n bond, will make the earrings thinner, sturdier and hang nicer.
Step 9
Now weed the heat transfer vinyl and cut each seperately so you can apply each one to the earring backs one at a time.
Step 10
Now we are going to iron the heat transfer vinyl onto the backside of the earrings one peice at at time so that they align perfectly. I am using teflon sheets on bottom and top to protect my iron and work surface. If you are worried about the design shifting you can use heat tape to hold it in place. Press according to manufacturers directions.
Below you can see the heat transfer vinyl applied to the back of the three layers. Now they are ready to be assembled.
Step 11
Twist open a jump ring and layer the three earring layers as well as an earring hook onto the jump ring. Then twist to close.
All done!
Now your earrings are complete and ready to be worn.
