How to decorate gourds for thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful times of the year for decorating. Leaves have turned colours and there are so many wonderful foods in abundance like pumpkins and gourds.

Today I’m going to show you how I decorated these cute mini pumpkins or gourds whichever you like to call them. I think with these pretty pink bows they would look perfect on a country chic wedding table. Or if you swap up the ribbon for an autumn leaves pattern it would be a wonderful way to decorate your table at home for when you have your family over for thanksgiving dinner.

I purchased these gourds at my local giant tiger but you can also find them at farmers markets. Another great idea is if you can find foam pumpkins because then you won’t have to discard them at the end of the season instead pack them away for next year.

For the supplies you are going to need a variety of fall inspired materials such as burlap, jute string, decorative ribbon, fake flowers and lace. This is a great opportunity to dig through your craft stash to use up scraps or you can buy some fresh new supplies online.

Step 1

First decorate the base of the pumpkin either by wrapping it with burlap, ribbon or painting it with white paint.

Step 2

Create a bow from decorative ribbon and wrap jute around the centre to give it a country chic feel.

Step 3

Finish your cute pumpkins off with fall coloured fake flowers.

Enjoy by placing them on your dining room table or on your mantle
