Cardholder wallet tutorial

Cardholder wallet tutorial

Card holders are like a simplified wallet, they hold just a few cards and maybe a bill so you don’t have to get weighed down with all the extra stuff. They are great when you just want to go out for some quick shopping or to hangout with friends and don’t want to have to carry around a purse or wallet.

I wanted to create a simple card holder pattern that so that I would have something simple to keep in my pocket. Cardholders are great because you can keep one in your purse and if you go into the mall just slip your debit card in them and leave your purse in your trunk.

I created a simple pattern to share with you and there are so many ways to get creative with the pattern. You can use faux leather with animal prints or glitter vinyl you want something playful. And you could easily make it from a sophisticated tobacco coloured leather to create a practical gift for the man in your life.

If you are looking for a simple way to carry your id, a credit card and some cash than you will love the pattern I’ve created. You can find it in my here.

Follow along as I show you how to cut out and assemble this easy card holder wallet.

What material do I need?

There are so many different types of materials that you could use to make this wallet. Traditionally people use leather, but unless you have a lot of leather working tools and the experience than I recommend something more basic like faux leather.

You can find faux leather online at places like amazon. There are so many patterns to choose from like animal prints or colourful designs. You can also use glitter vinyl if you want a more playful look that’s great for kids.

Faux leader is easy to sew up with a sewing machine and you don’t need any special equipment. Just a regular sewing needle. I recommend heavy duty thread because I find it give a more professional finish. Denim or Quilty thread works perfectly.
