    Step by step instructions

    Step 1

After you have downloaded the free SVG cut file open up Cricut design space. Select the “Upload” button in the bottom left and upload the SVG file, you will probably find it in your download section.

    Step 2

Once the files are uploaded you will see the card front, the insert and the “#1 DAD” design.

Click the “Ungroup” button in the right panel so you can work on each card part. Select the top card and press the “Ungroup” button again so you can work on the individual elements.

Select the vertical lines on the card front and card insert and change them to score. You will find this under “Operation” in the top panel.

Repeat these steps for the score line in the card insert.

    Step 3

Select the card front layers and press “Attach” so that they will show up together when you cut them out.

I recommend to turn off the layers you don’t want to cut, so that you are just working on one layer at a time.

When you want to cut the other colors you will need to select the layers you want cut together, for example each different color of paper, and press the “Attach” button so that they also cut on the same mat.

When you are ready to cut press the green “Make it” button in the top right.

    Step 4

In the “Prepare” screen you will see where you card will print out on your cutting mat. At this point to can rearrange it to your liking. When ready press the “Continue” button in the lower right corner.

    Step 5

In the “Make” screen you can select your cut settings. I selected “Medium cardstock” and changed the score tool to scoring stylus since that is what I have.

When ready place your paper onto a blue sticky mat and load it into your Cricut machine. Than press the button to cut.

Repeat these steps to cut out the card liner as well as the letters in each color.

    Step 6

After removing the card front from your sticky mat, fold along the score line. Make sure to peel the mat from the paper not the other way around so that your paper doesn’t curl.

    Step 7

After you cut out the card liner, fold along the score line. Now place double sided tape along the back of the right side of the card. Place this into the card front so that the right side is stuck down on all four sides but the left side is left loose when the card is open.

    Step 8

To assemble the text, use a tiny bit of craft glue and run it along the back of the red peices shown below and glue onto the green peices.

Once dry use foam dots to attach the green peices onto the blue peices.

Now use foam dots again to stack the blue part onto the yellow part.

To attach the finished text to the card, use double sided tape on the back of the yellow and place onto the front of the card.

    Step 9

Now you can place a gift card inside to his favorite diy shop or coffee drive thru.
