How do blogs make money?
So over the last few days we have gone over a lot of information. By now you should have a basic blog set up and maybe have started on your first post. So now you may be wondering how to make money with your shiny new blog.
There are several ways to monetize your blog. You may be wondering when is the right time to start, I would recommend monetizing your blog right away. Even if you just make a few dollars the first couple of months it will motivate you to keep going.
Here are a few ways that blogs can make money.
Affiliate marketing
On the the best and easiest ways to monetize your blog is with affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you include links to other companies products and when people click on the link and make a purchase, you get a percentage of the sale.
There are many, many affiliate programs out there. What I recommend is take a look at the sites you already shop at and see if they have an affiliate program. Some programs only allow established blogs but many allow new blogs to participate so don’t be afraid to try.

Advertising
Another popular way to monetize your blog is with advertising. Advertising is another easy way to get started. Some ad networks such as mediavine require a minimum of 50 000 sessions per month. So that can take a bit of time to reach that point.

But if you are just starting off then you can join ad networks like Adsense. Some blogs make a bit of money while others may only make a few pennies it really depends so don’t be afraid to try. This blog was making $150 a month after just a few months.
As you can see its important to work on your traffic to get your views up. So make sure to focus on promoting through social media and creating new content on a regular schedual. That way you can take advantage of ad networks.
Digital products
Creating digital products like ebooks, templates, or online courses is a great way to create passive income. After you’ve created a few post and you can see what your visitors respond to then you can create courses or ebooks to answer more of the questions they are searching for.
The great thing about selling your own products is that you get to keep 100% of the profit
Email Marketing
Have a newsletter signup form on your blog as well as include a sign up form with each blog post so that you can collect emails. Once your list starts to grow you can market directly to people inboxes where they are more likely to view your content. You can create emails that promote your affiliate blog posts or you can include affiliate links directly in your emails. Just make sure to review each affilate programs rules
Diversify your income
Its also a good idea to diversify your income. Its a good to have more than once source of income so that you don’t become too reliant on just one.
Write down a list of all the ways you hope to make money with your blog. Then set a deadline for each one. For example decide to get the base work done for creating a new affliate lead in four weeks etc. with a start and end date.
Make sure to complete each one before moving onto the next one. Try to not start several things at the same time. It’s easy to get excited and start up several projects at once. Its better to write them down and cross them off one by one as you complete them
These are just a few of the ways you can monetize your blog. It might seem like a lot of work at the beginning when you are just starting out but with consistent work you will start to see your income increase.
